Updates

Unfortunately CEF was not selected as the beneficiary for Cowboy Up this year, so we will not have that as a fundraising source.    We are disappointed but feel like we have other opportunities for fundraising that we can pour our energy into.  Our 2nd annual Oktoberfest is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th.

  1. We just received a $60,000 matching grant - $20,000 for each of our three funding targets:

    1. School supplies for our most vulnerable student populations

    2. Teacher grants

    3. Experiential learning grants

  2. Anna Cole, RFSD Superintendent, attended our Board meeting to discuss the upcoming Mill Levy Override (MLO) that will be on the November ballot.

Help grow the CEF community

The Carbondale Education Foundation is working to support students and teachers across all of Carbondale’s public schools.

If someone forwarded this email to you — welcome! And if you know someone who cares about local schools, feel free to pass this along.

A simple screening mammogram can mean the difference between life and death.

At La Clínica del Pueblo, we care for hundreds of medically uninsured immigrant women who receive all services in Spanish and free of charge. Many of these women work multiple jobs, care for families, and put their own health last—not by choice, but because preventive care like mammograms is financially out of reach.

A recent review of our records identified 242 women between the ages of 40 and 70 who have never had a screening mammogram.

We are seeking $200,000 to fund 400 screening mammograms at approximately $500 each. This initiative will be carried out in collaboration with local hospitals, which will provide high-quality screenings at reduced, negotiated rates to ensure every donated dollar has maximum impact.

Your support will directly remove the financial barrier to early detection and save lives.

Make a Difference

Good news: You can help support our schools without spending a penny!

It’s called the City Market Community Rewards program, and it’s one of the easiest ways to make a difference for Carbondale classrooms. If you already shop at our local City Market, you’ve already done 95% of the work.

By linking your City Market account to the Carbondale Education Foundation (CEF), a portion of your regular grocery spending goes toward supporting students and teachers across our local schools.

  • No extra cost.

  • No extra steps after setup.

  • Just something good happening in the background.

Here’s how to set it up:

Step 1: Create or log into your City Market digital account

Step 2: Go to “Community Rewards” in your account settings

Step 3: Search for “Carbondale Education Foundation”

Step 4: Select CEF and click “Save”

That’s it.

Once you’re set up, any time you shop using your City Market Card, City Market will automatically direct rewards to support local schools through CEF.

It’s a small and easy action; my grocery bill this quarter has amounted to $16 in donations. But if only 100 people do the same — wow. Those small numbers add up quickly!

Education

Empower through Learning

Our chosen non-profit partner, Carbondale Education Foundation, raises money for teacher grants.  These grants enable educational enrichment for K-12 students and financial support for the teachers.

Food Insecurity

Healthy Meals for All

We work to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Our food security initiatives provide support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Our key partners in our Food Insecurity initiative are LiftUp for food donations and Stepping Stones where we provide a meal once a week for up to 25 people.

Arts Programs

Creativity for All Ages

Art has the power to inspire, heal, and bring joy. Our arts programs aim to make the arts accessible to everyone, enriching lives and fostering creativity. We wish to ensure that the vitality and creativity of the Arts can flourish in our community.  Our primary partner in the Arts is The Crystal Theater.
